Amberglen Retirement Village & Care Centre

Amberglen Retirement Village is a retirement village at 31 Karkloof Road, Howick, in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, with its own Care Centre. Residents live in homes on the estate, which are offered for sale or rent. The village has a centre for social gatherings, a fitness centre, a library, gardens, a heated swimming pool, a restaurant and cafe and a snooker room. According to the home's website, security includes biometric access for staff, vehicle number plate recognition for resident vehicles, a perimeter monitored by thermal cameras with an electric fence, and 24-hour security at the access point. The Care Centre lists frail care among its services, and its therapeutic activities include physiotherapy sessions, occupational therapy and social activities. The MyCare team of trained carers looks after residents in their own homes, overseen by a professional trained nursing sister, and the Cottage Care nursing sisters provide oversight of residents' health challenges in their homes and specialise in medication dispensing, wound care and counselling. The Care Centre also takes respite stays, which it charges per day.
