Disability Residential

The Ann Harding Cheshire Home is a residential care facility for adults who have a physical disability. According to the home's website, it has forty residents, most of whom live there permanently after becoming disabled through motor vehicle accidents, violence and assault, strokes, degenerative diseases or congenital disabilities. The home opened in 1976, and a building for forty residents was opened in 1988. It is a registered non-profit and public benefit organisation run by a voluntary board of directors, and it is one of three Cheshire homes in Gauteng. Residents are provided with accommodation, 24 hour care, meals, laundry and cleaning, access to therapists and a social worker, psychosocial support and specialised transport as required. Weekly activities include arts and crafts, bingo, fine art and shopping trips to Northgate. Residents elect a residents committee whose members sit on the home's management committee.

Typical costs for disability residential facilities in South Africa

We do not have Ann Harding Cheshire’s own fees. As a general guide:

Costs range from SASSA disability grant-funded beds (the disability grant is R2,400/month in 2026) in subsidised NGO facilities to roughly R8,000–R15,000/month in private facilities. In a state-contracted facility the grant is reduced to 25% (about R600/month) from the fourth month, with the subsidy covering the rest. Government-funded beds have long waiting lists.

These are typical South African ranges for this type of care, not this home’s prices. Actual fees vary by room type, level of care, and area, and they change every year - always confirm current rates with the home.
