Comcare Trust is a non-profit organisation providing supported accommodation and psychosocial rehabilitation services for adults with severe psychiatric disabilities. Comcare Trust runs eight supported accommodation services, according to its website: seven group homes in Mowbray, Observatory and Claremont, and individual bachelor flats at Rosebank Court, for over 70 residents in total. It began in 1984, when two families bought a home for adults with psychiatric disorders. It is registered as a Level 2 Residential Care Facility offering supported care. Residential Support Workers are at the houses between 08h30 and 16h00, Monday to Friday, and there is no 24-hour on-site supervision. Each resident is assigned a Community Counsellor who provides clinical case management and counselling. The Welcome Club, a psychosocial rehabilitation day centre at Valkenberg Hospital, runs every weekday morning. Applicants are adults aged 20 to 45 with a primary psychiatric diagnosis, and older applicants may be considered if they are physically well. Comcare does not offer emergency or respite placements; applicants join a waiting list after screening.
