Eden Tehuis is a non-profit institution for the care of elderly people and people with Alzheimer's or dementia. It is housed in a farmhouse on a smallholding just south of Brits in the North West Province, in a rural area with a large garden. The home has beds in single and shared rooms, a large lounge with a TV and a dining area where residents eat together. According to the home's website, a team of full-time care staff, assisted by a qualified sister, is on duty 24 hours a day, and a nurse on duty is mainly responsible for the daily dispensing of medication and for measuring blood pressure and monitoring residents' general health. A medical practitioner makes home visits where necessary, and transport to and from hospital is provided for residents whose families cannot take them. The property has electrified fencing and a contract with a security and response unit. The home moved to its current premises near Brits in 2011 and took the name Eden Tehuis in the same year.
