Helderberg Village is a retirement lifestyle estate in Somerset West, on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain. It is a fully developed retirement village with six sectional title bodies corporate, managed under a central non-profit company. Residents must usually be over 50 and meet health requirements. The village has 24-hour security with an on-site control room, a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, bowling greens, croquet lawns and four swimming pools. Its on-site healthcare centre, Heatherton House, is a 63-bed facility with 18 frail care beds, 17 dementia beds and 3 sub-acute beds, with nursing staff and carers on duty and on call around the clock. Homeleigh Nursing Services provides the on-site nursing care. The centre is available for application to residents who have lived in the village for 2 years or longer, subject to availability and assessment. Healthcare is charged separately from levies. According to the village's website, there is currently a 2 year waiting list for frail care.
