Huis Nuweland is a retirement home in Upper Claremont, Cape Town. It can host around 80 residents and offers independent living, limited care and special health services in a 24/7/365 Care Centre. It functions as a programme of Badisa, the welfare arm of the Dutch Reformed Church and the Uniting Reformed Church, and welcomes residents irrespective of religious persuasion, denomination, orientation or race. The home was once a home for unmarried mothers until the 1980s, and in the late 70s the government asked the Church to convert it into a retirement home. All flats and rooms are in one building bordering Sylvia, Eden and Alma Roads. Lunch is the main meal served daily, and the Care Centre serves three meals a day plus a late-night snack. It also offers short stays and respite stays of a few days or weeks.
