Huis Uitvlucht is an old age home in the centre of Montagu, in the Little Karoo, within walking distance of the library, churches and shops. It is a programme of Badisa (NPO 011-891) and, according to its website, a registered Residential Facility of the Department of Social Development. The cornerstone was laid on 17 November 1967, and the home was officially registered as an old age home in 1981. According to the home's website, its frail care and dependent living rooms are home to 81 residents, and it has 18 flats for independent living. In 2022 it expanded with new office space and two life right units, where the resident buys the unit and the money goes back to the estate on passing away. The home offers round-the-clock care from a caregiving team, including medication management and personalised care plans. Residents take part in activities, and the home runs a draf-stap club for the seniors of Montagu. Kitchen, cleaning and laundry services have been outsourced to Feedem since 2010, and an average of 45 volunteers help at the home.
