At the heart of La Vie Nouvelle Retirement Village Fourways is holistic wellness and green design… Conveniently located in Broadacres, Gauteng, La Vie Nouvelle Retirement and Wellness Village consists of 220 well-appointed units, varying from two- to three-bedroom simplexes to one- and two-bedroom garden cottages. A 47-bed frail-care centre also forms part of the village. The concept of holistic wellness for the elderly (financial, physical, spiritual and emotional) forms the basis of the village’s ethos, and the offering and facilities are aimed at creating overall wellbeing. This flows through from the specialised architectural design and greening design principles, to the security measures, on-site wellness centre and amenities, amongst others. Green designFacilitated and endorsed by the CSIR – an in-depth green design principle process was followed to determine the best suited environmental elements. Various concepts including energy consumption (gas, heat pumps, etc), water conservation (rainwater harvesting, grey water usage), the optimisation of natural light and wind circulation were implemented in the design to save on utility expenses. This includes a separate storm water system that takes care of deluges and storm debris. Wellness Centre at La Vie Nouvelle Retirement Village FourwaysThe wellness centre includes a heated indoor pool, consulting rooms, therapy, hairdressing, water and hydrotherapies, physical fitness gym area, mental acuity and training as well as chronic diseases treatment/therapies. Central wetlands nature conservancyThere is a 2,4 Ha natural wetland and nature conservancy area made up of ponds, water features, 1,4 km walkways, bridges and relaxation areas. Security24-hour access and internal movement control, perimeter electric fencing, CCTV cameras and armed response are available to residents.
