Retirement Village

Settlers Park Retirement Village is in Port Alfred on the Sunshine Coast of the Eastern Cape, on a site of over 16 hectares of gardens, paved roads and homes. It first opened in 1986 and is administered by the Settlers Park Association, a registered Public Benefit Organisation and Non-Profit Organisation. According to the home's website, it is a community of about 350 residents and its Care Centre has over 30 suites with private bathrooms. Residents live in free-standing and semi-detached cottages of one or two bedrooms, which are made available on the Life-right model, and pets are welcome. The Care Centre provides longer-term frail care and shorter-term sick-bay care, and its professional nurses provide round the clock care. A home based care programme lets residents who need care stay in their own homes. The Hibiscus Room restaurant serves residents and visitors and prepares all meals for the Village Inn and Care Centre, and the village has a heated pool, a hall where classes are held, and a licensed venue run by a committee of residents called Glen's Den.

Typical costs for retirement villages in South Africa

We do not have Park Retirement Village’s own fees. As a general guide:

Costs vary widely: life rights purchases range from R500,000 to R5,000,000+, with monthly levies of R3,000–R10,000. Rental villages charge R5,000–R25,000/month depending on location and unit size.

These are typical South African ranges for this type of care, not this home’s prices. Actual fees vary by room type, level of care, and area, and they change every year - always confirm current rates with the home.
