Pinewood Village is a Life Right retirement village on University Drive in Pinelands, Cape Town. The Life Right scheme grants residents exclusive use of a unit throughout their lifetime, contingent upon health. Independent living cottages have one, two or three bedrooms and range from 83m2 to 158m2, with a kitchen, bathroom, living area, patio, single-car garage and carport. Assisted living and full care are offered only to existing residents, through the Aloe Close Complex with 30 assisted living units and a 12-bed full care centre. The village does not have a dementia or memory care unit. The 8 hectare site has a controlled entrance manned around the clock, a restaurant seating 150, a coffee bar, a library, a hair salon, a laundry, a heated indoor swimming pool and a gymnasium. The land is owned by the University of Cape Town, which signed a 99-year lease with the Pinewood Trust in 1993. According to the village's website, the waiting list is open for applications.
Pricing
According to the village's website, Life Right purchase prices as at 1 March 2026 start from R2,800,000, R3,550,000 and R4,300,000, depending on the unit. The Pinewood Trust determines these annually. Monthly fees are charged separately.
