Rand Aid Association’s Ron Smith Frail Care Johannesburg, situated in the spacious grounds of Elphin Lodge, has 160 beds available for frail, older persons in need of full-time nursing care. It is set in large, well tended gardens, sporting landscaped dams and a variety of birdlife for the pleasure of residents, their family and friends. Accommodation consists of single or double rooms, with or without private bathrooms. Rates are inclusive of full board and lodging, 24-hour nursing care, laundry services, physiotherapy and occupational therapy services and a doctor on call. A wide range of amenities are offered to make residents’ lives as comfortable as possible. These include hairdressing and beautician facilities on the property, podiatry services, a well stocked library, a convenience shop, spiritual care and regular entertainment. The Ron Smith Frail Care also offers physiotherapy and biokinetic services; a day care facility; and an active Occupational Therapy Department. Elphino’s Coffee Shop, located on the premises, is open Tuesday to Sunday. Woodlands is suitable for single people or couples. It offers 20 spacious, garden or inner rooms with en-suite bathrooms and ample built-in cupboards. Rooms are furnished, but residents are encouraged to surround themselves with their favourite pieces of furniture to create their own home away from home. Charming and cosy sitting and dining rooms are available. Cedar Park offers 10 double rooms, suitable for couples, two people sharing or as a suite, with direct access to the veranda and rose garden.  It also has six spacious inner single rooms. All rooms are en-suite with ample built-in cupboards. Rooms are furnished, but residents are welcome to personalise their space by bringing along well-loved furniture and pictures. Private dining facilities and a sitting room add to the warm and inviting atmosphere. Lakeside accommodates residents in 20 spacious single rooms with en-suite toilet and hand basin. All rooms are north facing with direct access to the garden. Residents are encouraged to surround themselves with their favourite pieces of furniture to create their own home away from home. Meals are served in the private dining room, and the lounge and sitting nooks provide warm and friendly spaces for residents and their visitors. The three River Lodge wards offer 94 single rooms with veranda access, or spacious inner rooms. All rooms have hand basins, ample cupboard space and enough room for your own favourite chair and television. Bathroom facilities are shared. Pleasant and comfortable television/sitting rooms are available for residents and their visitors.
