Selwyn Segal is a centre for people with disabilities in Sandringham, Johannesburg. It was established in 1956 by Leon and Fanny Segal, whose only child, Selwyn, had a disability, and became part of the Chev Group (the Johannesburg Chevrah Kadisha) in 2005. According to the Chev's website, the centre provides accommodation, therapy and stimulation for 120 residents and serves a large number of day care attendees. The day care programme caters to all levels of functioning and covers grooming, self-care, spirituality, life and social skills, current affairs and recreation. A multidisciplinary team of medical, rehabilitation and social services cares for each resident and day care attendee. The centre is set in tranquil gardens.
