Olivedale Retirement Village

Olivedale Retirement Village is a sectional title village in Olivedale, Randburg, for independent living for people over 50. A medical assessment is required before moving in. The village has 225 one- and two-bedroom apartments and 193 two- and three-bedroom houses, and the first residents moved in in August 2014. It is run by a home owners association, with Trafalgar Property Management as managing agent. On site is a 24-bed frail care centre run by the contractor Unique Health, mainly for residents and owners, though the village says outside patients are also welcome; it also offers a home service in the patient's own home. A village nurse and sister on site holds daily clinics and makes house calls on request. The village has a fully catered dining room run by Bidvest Catering, a hairdresser, beauty salon, tuck shop and library, a nature park with paved walking paths, and 24/7 security with access control and armed response. A weekly bus runs to shopping centres including Northgate and Cresta. Two small dogs are allowed, by application, in the cottages and in downstairs apartments with gardens; no cats or reptiles.
