The Golden Years Frail Care

The Golden Years Frail Care Randburg is a specialised frail care in Jukskei Park that´s been open for five years. Our facility strives to create a home-like environment with hands on care both night and day. Our resident profile involves dementia, stroke, Parkinson’s, and all types of frailty requiring full care. We also do holiday and post op care, however this is not claimable on the medical aid. We have excellent security with CCTV in each room, with our carers doing hourly checks at night. Twice daily monitoring of blood pressures, fluid intake and outputs, allows us to pick up problems early and then care can be adjusted accordingly. Our menu allows three homecooked balanced meals and two tea times per day. These are adjusted to the necessary diet of the resident should soft meals be needed. There is wheelchair access though out our facility, and afternoons outside in the garden is enjoyed by all, where we engage in puzzles, reading and games to stimulate conversation, mobility and interaction. The ratio of carers to residents is 4:1 at maximum capacity, allowing good hands-on care. We offer either private rooms allowing a television with one’s own furniture or shared rooms without TV. There is a general lounge and dining room, where all meals are served to encourage movement and social interaction. Although we have routine, our ‘Golden oldies’ are allowed so stay up late or sleep in a little, to help them feel at home.
